WordS of the Week...

FUN!!! We are ENJOYING school these days! We are doing lots of EXCITING activities. We are ENERGIZED about writing!

Our holiday stories are AWESOME. We practiced using adjectives by adding missing details to a picture of Santa, Mrs. Claus, an elf, a Christmas tree, a gingerbread man, or a reindeer. Students REQUESTED to write at times Mrs. Walker wasn't in the class for writing time! That made Mrs. Walker ECSTATIC!

This week Mrs. Golden's class got Flat Stanley back from President Obama at the White House. We were ELATED to read about his adventures with President Obama and his family.

We LOVE school!!

I know our students ENJOY the links I put on my blog. Here is one that will provide hours of ENTERTAINMENT. Visit Santa at the North Pole.

So You Want To Read.....

Do you ever have a time you want to read a good book and don't know what to choose? Here are some links to great books!

Mrs. Coldwell has a blog for Bluebonnet Books.

Look here to find Bluebonnet Book winners from past years. These are great books to check out from the library and read.

Different school districts in Texas have a Mockingbird Reading Program. Follow this link for Mesquite ISD's Mockingbird list for 2009-2010. Mrs. Coldwell is reading these books to classes during their library time.

Check back on my blog for more information to come on Mesquite's Mockingbird books!

Abilene Schools have had a Mockingbird Reading Program since 1986. Read about the history of how the Program began in Abilene, Texas.

Look at Abilene ISD's Mockingbird list of nominated books for 2009-2010.

See a list of Abilene ISD's previous Mockingbird Books. You can get ideas of good books to read from this list.

Happy Reading!

Thanksgiving....

At this time of giving thanks...

I am thankful for my family.  My husband, Randy, my dad, my children, Eli, Deborah, Sarah, Daniel, and son-in-law Daniel make my life complete.

I am thankful for my job.  I work with the best students.  They are smart and make me happy.

May your holidays be filled with fun, family, and many good things.

Looking Up RESEARCH

Our new word this week is.... RESEARCH!

Research is a verb (action word) that means to investigate a subject in order to discover facts about the subject.

This week our Second Graders researched states. We went to the library to use the Internet to find facts about our state.

Leave a comment for Mrs. Walker telling something you learned in your research about your state.

Thanks for reading!
