This week Mrs. Golden's class learned about PREPOSITIONS. Wow! That's a big word. We learned that using PREPOSITIONS is a way to ELABORATE our writing by telling where and when. Read about my dog, Collin.

_____ we went for a walk, Collin sat _____ in the soft green grass. He had his UT Longhorn collar _____ his neck. His favorite spot _____ the yard is _____ _____ the tree. He likes to lay _____ the shady branches. Collin will stay in the cool grass _____ it gets dark and he has _____ come inside.

This week's word is SURVEY!

According to Dictionary.com, a SURVEY is "A gathering of a sample of data or opinions."

Our second grade teachers would like to know more about our students and their families.

We would greatly appreciate it if you would click on this link to our SURVEY and answer a few questions.

Filling out this SURVEY will be good practice for future SURVEYS to come from Second Grade.

Thank you!

Welcome to 2010!

I hope each of you had a wonderful holiday time with your family.

My family spent lots of time together.  One of my favorite things in life is to have all four of my children, my son-in-law, my dad, my brother, my husband, and me all together.  We were all together Christmas Day.  It was a very special time.

My husband, Randy, and I got to go see my sister's new house and visit with her and her husband.  Here is a video of her COCKATIEL.  He is a funny bird named Niobe.

This week's word is COCKATIEL.  What is a cockatiel?  What clues did you use in the blog post to figure out the meaning of COCKATIEL?

Leave a post telling Mrs. Walker about the clues you used to find the definition of COCKATIEL.

Happy Hunting!

WordS of the Week...

FUN!!! We are ENJOYING school these days! We are doing lots of EXCITING activities. We are ENERGIZED about writing!

Our holiday stories are AWESOME. We practiced using adjectives by adding missing details to a picture of Santa, Mrs. Claus, an elf, a Christmas tree, a gingerbread man, or a reindeer. Students REQUESTED to write at times Mrs. Walker wasn't in the class for writing time! That made Mrs. Walker ECSTATIC!

This week Mrs. Golden's class got Flat Stanley back from President Obama at the White House. We were ELATED to read about his adventures with President Obama and his family.

We LOVE school!!

I know our students ENJOY the links I put on my blog. Here is one that will provide hours of ENTERTAINMENT. Visit Santa at the North Pole.
